The Fiducial Mark

Welcome to The Fiducial Mark.  I’m Ryan Strynatka and I have created this site as a space to capture thoughts on technology developments, product development, processes and practices, and other miscellaneous ideas.  My background is in software Product Management, specializing in geospatial (GIS, remote sensing, and photogrammetry) and social media technologies.

After starting my professional life in 2000 with a start-up firm focused on building digital 3D urban models in New York City, I worked on the NC floodplain mapping program in Greensboro, North Carolina.  It was a fantastic project and an early success for LIDAR mapping technology.  It also was a trigger for becoming increasingly intrigued by airborne digital sensor technologies, digital mapping and 3D data products.  After that I spent eight years with Leica Geosystems (throughout various acquisitions and name changes: LH Systems, Leica Geosystems, and ERDAS), working primarily on photogrammetry/mapping software products and living in San Diego, Atlanta, and Liege (Belgium).  Most recently I’ve returned to my home country of Canada and joined Radian6, a leading provider of social media monitoring and engagement solutions.
